The Coromandel Peninsula, in particular, has long been viewed by the greater New Zealand population as the preserve of the “Greenies”.
Once tolerated with benign amusement, some might say that those who first chose to live on the Peninsula and create an “eco-friendly” environment for themselves, their family and nurture the land on which they live, were the pioneers of New Zealand’s movement towards sustainable environments!

While at Marina Park Apartments, we invite our guests to relax and enjoy modern comfort in tasteful surroundings.
We feel that sustainable living should not impact on your enjoyment of your apartment or the region. However, for those who wish to contribute to a more sustainable world, here are some suggestions on how you might contribute:
Recycling
Most of our guests, however, do like to assist in small ways by using the appropriate bins available for recycling paper, card, bottles and some plastics. These are conveniently located beside the lift at the bottom of the stairs. Small batteries may be deposited in a “battery bucket” in the laundry.
You will also notice that the bins in the apartment are lined with biodegradable plastic.
Lights and electricity
Our light bulb supplier will be supplying suitable energy efficient bulbs as they come to hand.
You may also like to assist by switching off lights and appliances when not in use, particularly heated towel rails and electric blankets.
There is a clothes airer in your apartment should you prefer not to use the clothes drier.
Water
Water is a precious commodity. While there is no water use restriction in place, we ask everyone to be considerate in their usage. Some ways you could assist in using water more resourcefully are by only using dishwashers and washing machines for full loads where possible. Other simple tasks which really make a difference are to turn off the tap while brushing teeth and having shorter showers.
Hot water
The hot water supply to each apartment is limited to the capacity of the hot water cylinder in the apartment, just like it is in your home. It is up to you to share this resource fairly amongst yourselves!
Please ensure that the last person to use the bathroom has enough hot water for their needs as the first user!
Pools
The Spa and swimming pool have covers to maintain the heat when not in use, particularly over the winter months.
Staff will assist with the cover on the main pool. However, we ask that the covers be replaced on the spa pool as you leave.
Towel changes
Towel exchanges on request. Please call reception and these will be delivered/exchanged for you.
We have observed over time that some make-up products and self-tanning lotions leave unsightly stains that are difficult to remove from towels and facecloths. Please use the tissues provided wherever possible.
Please help us to look after our lovely white towels by using them for their intended purpose.
If you require cleaning cloths for shoes, bikes, sports equipment, cars and the like, please ask our housekeeping staff.
Cleaning Products
Where possible and without compromising hygiene standards, we supply and use environmentally friendly cleaning products.
